Similar to the Oriental Beauty Oolong, the Mi Xiang Black also gets its special flavour from the bite of the cicada. As soon as it gets warmer in Taiwan, the small insects seek out the leaves of the tea plants and suck out the cell sap. As a defence mechanism, the plant forms the characteristic attractant for spiders, the cicada's natural enemy.
